Evie adopts him from Mrs Wilson. She always lets Alfie sleep in her room and watch TV with her. Alfie likes all the attention, until Evie's baby brother, Sam, arrives. Evie grows a bond with him quickly and pays more attention to him than Alfie. Alfie tries to get Evie's attention by making noise, but Evie just gets cross with him and grows tired and grumpy because of Sam's crying. One day, when Sam is sleeping in his bouncy chair, Alfie sees a fly on Sam's arm and tries to catch it, but Evie scares him by shouting at him because she thinks Alfie is trying to bite Sam, and Sam starts roaring not because of the fly, but because Mum has pulled him out of his nice sleep. Later, Evie apologizes to Alfie, who is still cowering under the sofa, and creeps out, befriending Evie. Although Evie pays more attention to Alfie from that day on, her parents explain to her that they can't keep Alfie because she has been paying more attention to Sam than him They tells Evie that they will take Alfie to Riverside. Evie is upset with the news, but makes do, but despite that, Evie plays with Alfie for the rest of the evening. The next day, Evie and Dad bring Alfie to Riverside. A boy named Ethan comes along and lays eyes on Alfie. Meanwhile, Evie's parents realize how much Alfie really means to Evie, and go to Riverside and bring him back. Alfie isn't there at first, but then appears and he and Evie are reunited.
